MALIDOMA SOME talks about his upbringing among the elders of the
Dagara tribe in West Africa and about the ancient rituals that helped
hold the community together.
He also argues that the lack of ritual in Western culture has left
many of us empty, lonely, and separate and that we have a great deal
to learn from the traditional practices of indigenous peoples.
Raised in a small village in Burkina Faso, Malidoma Some was initiated
into the ancestral tribal traditions and is a medicine man in the
Dagara culture. He also holds graduate degrees from the Sorbonne and
Brandeis University.
